A large industrial processing facility operated an extensive steam distribution network serving multiple production units. After years of continuous operation, the existing insulation system experienced aging, increasing thermal losses, and declining energy efficiency.
To improve thermal performance and reduce operating costs, the facility upgraded its steam pipeline insulation system using silica aerogel blanket insulation.
The project covered a large-scale steam network carrying both high-pressure and medium-pressure steam, where minimizing heat loss and improving long-term insulation performance were key objectives.

OPERATING MEDIUM HP & MP Steam | INSULATION MATERIAL | ANNUAL ENERGY SAVINGS 5,692.33 tce |
As the existing insulation system aged, the facility began facing several operational challenges:
Increased thermal losses along steam pipelines
Declining insulation performance
Elevated surface temperatures
Higher maintenance requirements
Increased energy consumption
Reduced overall system efficiency
Because the network extended over 10 km, even relatively small heat losses generated significant annual energy waste and operating costs.
The facility selected silica aerogel blanket insulation to upgrade the steam distribution network.
Key performance characteristics included:
The insulation system was applied to both high-pressure and medium-pressure steam pipelines throughout the network.
